This is a campaign, not a general, open world roleplay site. While you have control where your characters go, what bonds they form with others, and what subplots they create, your character is included as well as important to the overarching plot of the site. Chalkie and Larry (admins) will designate main story plot threads that everyone must participate in, unless otherwise directed. As well, you have to place a lot of trust in the admins as we guide you along the story. Sometimes what we throw at you will hurt, sometimes it might not. Hearts may be broken and lives might be ruined – if you can’t handle this, then this is not the place for you. It is absolutely integral to the plot that all characters be connected and in contact with the others – doesn’t matter if they’re your friends, your enemies, or your lovers. You must be connected with every character in some fashion. Don’t be afraid to collaborate with members. It's also essential that every character you sign up for have some connection to the deceased as well. Most of this we leave up to you to come up with, but don’t be afraid to ask us for suggestions; we have no qualms assisting in that part of character building. We will not accept a character slot that has absolutely no connection to Benjamin in the slightest – otherwise you place yourself in a position where you become an outsider and we cannot have that.
As admins, we will play plot-relevant NPCs that will control the goings on in Ashwick, but we leave members responsible to play their own parents (as NPCs in their own posts). You are also responsible to play your own siblings (if your character has them). You are very allowed to petition to put these parents and siblings up for adoption in order to help establish subplots, but we cannot guarantee that anyone who picks up these characters will somehow be integrated into the main plot (with luck, perhaps). Which is why we suggest that other established members take these adoptables in order to avoid the risk of leaving anyone out. Otherwise, when you join this campaign you accept the responsibility of playing your own familial NPCs.
- Please show respect to the Dungeon Masters as well as other members. It’s just snazzy to be kind to others. We’re all in for a long ride with each other so it would be easier if we could all be friendly. This is supposed to be fun!
- This site does not have a rating but it does dance around quite mature subjects. If anything of a sexual nature pops up please continue on in private since proboards isn’t really allowed to host that.
- Please don't join this site without reading everything. It's really disrespectful. Do not join this site if you do not have experience roleplaying, please. Just be sure of what you know and what you don't know before making an account. You can ask us, we don't bite.
- Please do be sure to register with your character's first and last name in lower case letters. (example: 'benjamin turner')
- Post bios in the Auditions forum, using the bio template provided. Accepted applications will be moved to the Yearbook forum.
- We have a character limit of two main characters per person. However, members are allowed to adopt as many non-main characters as they'd like.
- Feel free to be as diverse as you'd like while writing your bio. This character is yours to make as you please. While some characters have to be mindful of certain but very minute details of their personality and pieces of their past, the rest is very much up to you. So feel free to be creative as you please.
- This campaign has no word count but the admins would like to remind you to be mindful of other posts and respectful enough to match what your fellow roleplayers offer you. As well, this site is for experienced and versatile writers, so please be cognizant of your grammar and spelling. We realize that not every post is going to be a novel (nor should it be), but please be sure to write something that can be responded to.
- Please do not take IC actions in an OOC manner. None of us are our characters and we will all be quite sadface if you make out of character drama over things that are happening in the story. So it would do you well to avoid that.
- All characters will be given a secret that is tailor made to their character and is non-negotiable and must be kept to themselves. Eventually, all will be revealed, but for now what your character knows will be kept close to the belt.
- All characters must have a plotter, a cellphone and computer (registered in their respective boards). This is essential and also non-negotiable.
- All in character events must be respected and adhered to. You don't get to pick and choose what happens to your character. If the powers that be decide that your character got in a car accident, they got in a car accident. You are allowed to choose the extent of the injury, but you cannot avoid the event. No character involved in this campaign can opt out from in-character events. They are what drives the story forward.
- No god moding each other please. Be mindful of this. Only the Dungeon Masters have the right to do so, and even then only through events. Do not start micromanaging other people's characters, or you may be asked to leave.
- We encourage all members to engage in subplots. It's what gives your characters more depth.
- This campaign thrives on your activity so please do not commit if you cannot dedicate your time. As well, if are missing for more than three weeks without notice, the admins reserve the right to have your character murdered ICly.
- Once all character slots are filled, we will cease to accept more members until a character is abandoned. Feel free to stay and read the story if you'd like, but we will not take any more characters beyond the allotted 13. However, in the future we may open integral and new characters to join into the story, so keep your eyes open.
- Please do not worry, we will not kill your characters unless you abandon them or give us explicit permission to.
- Avatars are 150x150, signatures are 400x200. Feel free to go smaller, but please nothing bigger. We do not want you to stretch the page.
- Please no image of an overtly pornographic nature.
