Students call him Mr. Dixon (or probably a lot of variations of that name which he will ignore the existence of completely), and others call him Oliver, however all know him as the calm, quiet, bookish teacher who pushes his students to excel even if they don't necessarily want to at the time. He holds high standards for his classes as they are upper level, and his students either love him or hate him for it. He's an avid reader, but also enjoys writing at times as well as generally helping his students become better writers through essays or his elective Creative Writing course. A little over two years ago, Oliver was in a car accident, so at times he is seen with a cane on 'bad' days but he is coping well enough after having surgery and physical therapy. He still has nightmares of the accident at times, but overall he is moving on with his life. FRIENDSWhile quiet, Oliver is still friendly to most he comes in contact with. He treats his students in a more formal matter rather than as trying to be friends with them, but he is still kind and does show that he cares in his own, rather strict, fashion. He does not have a wide range of friends, but those he does get close to will find that he's actually got a rather dry sense of humor and does like laughing. Getting him out and away from his books and work isn't all that difficult just so long as you do not throw off his main schedule he's generally happy to go do things with other adults for 'fun'. However, he really is much more content to sit at home reading or grading. ENEMIESOliver can be a bit intense for some people. Whether he gave you a failing grade or perhaps dismissed your excuse for turning in an assignment late immediately without listening, there will definitely be students who strongly dislike Mr. Dixon. LOVERSOliver has not really been lucky or unlucky in love. To be honest, he's only known love in this way by reading about it in books. He's not really a romantic, but he knows that if he actually finds someone whom he cares that deeply for that it will be love and that it will hopefully be mutual.

oliver&& silasBasically... Haha, seriously though, I'm not sure how you'd like to do this, but I like to think Oliver maybe took Silas under his wing, so to speak, since Silas has only been in the area for a year. I think they'd get along very well, and I'm so excited about this you don't even know.

They look so serious. Lol. oliver & silas I like that idea! Maybe they live near one another, and that broke the ice in conversation. Drama and Literature go very well together, so I can see them sharing some interests when it comes to performing arts. Of course, Oliver is more of the watch/read type, but I'm sure he'd enjoy the performances and give his 'critiques'. Every director needs a critic after all. ;D It would be all in good fun, and I see them meshing well in and out of the work environment. Students will go at them often, I'm sure, as they joke about things way over their students' heads...then proceed to fist bump before going on their merry way. XDD

callie&&oliver
-awkwardly saddles in-
so. like. I'm pretty sure that Callie is taking one of his English classes this year, but that's sort of not the main reason why they know each other. This is all... honestly very dependent on where Larry decides to place Silas' trust in Oliver. He may seek Oliver in this very delicate time of need, he may not. How Oliver reacts to said information that Silas gives him is entirely up to you, but it will most definitely affect his relationship with Callie. Seeing as how much Callie cares for Silas, she'd be distantly interested in Oliver, simply because she wants to get in touch with and understand the people most important to him. So expect, possibly, at least at base, Callie awkwardly staring with keen interest as the two men talk to each other, possibly simpering a little when she's caught before running off. It's just her way. So yeah a lot of this is completely dependent on what Silas is willing to share with Oliver >> because god knows Callie won't impose and spill things. [/size]

Yesss, yay teacher bro fists! I feel like Silas would really be able to bring out that silly side of Oliver, and they'd be able to handle each other's moodiness when the time comes. Silas lives in the apartments in midtown, and I imagine Oliver might be there too, since he lives alone and on a teacher's salary, haha.
EDIT: And as to what Chalkie said above, the two of them are sort of unwittingly starting a relationship which has yet to really begin. And I think initially Oliver would have to notice it, because Silas is pretty clueless about it, but once it's been brought up he wouldn't have a problem talking about it with his bro. Up to you whether Oliver has a problem with it, though, since Callie is eighteen, but still a student.

So, because of his past, Phoenix is very much not a fan of authority. Especially when it comes to male authority figures. That said, the one thing that really keeps him in touch with humanity is writing. I can see him electing to take Mr. Dixon's Creative Writing class (though he's certainly not smart enough to be in any honors classes). Although he wouldn't really reveal much about his tragic past, perhaps some of his writings would help Mr. Dixon see to all the pain that hides under his rebellious facade.

Oliver and Callie So much dramas! :3 Oliver will naturally be wary of this whole relationship thing, and will tread carefully. He'd go at it very logically, and would probably talk to Silas about it to at least help Silas think all of this through and if it's the best decision. He would try very hard to not let such a personal matter affect his teaching, and it definitely wouldn't change how he would grade things. However, Callie should expect a slightly more critical eye from Oliver as he processes everything.
Oliver & Silas The same apartment building works for me! :3
And as for the relationship, thing, Oliver would definitely try to verbally knock some sense into Silas. He'd try to be unbiased, but he's very biased, really. XD I think it would take Oliver a long time to process all of it, and he will be torn if he is required to report such a thing or not. However, they are bros, and he wouldn't feel right doing anything to get the other into serious trouble until he understood everything about situation and whether it was really wrong or not. Yay for moral grey areas! XD
Oliver & Phoenix He would definitely see such a thing, and would be understanding if not slightly more focused in his critiques of Phoenix's writing. He would also try to be a positive influence, and would hopefully at least gain some sort of trust from Phoenix that he is not one to abuse his authority over someone else.

Eloise & Mr. Dixon
I imagine that Oliver would like Eloise - she is an exceptionally hard working - aiming for medical school one day and takes school very, very seriously. Though she prefers math and science, she would probably have been in his honors classes - and an AP class this year if he's teaching one. For her part, I imagine that Eloise would like him very much. I also think she would sympathize with him, in terms of his car accident. She understands medical struggles, as she had leukemia. She would also appreciate that he pushes her to do better. I also think that Ellie would giggle when she saw him and Silas fist bump in the hallway and would totally love it. Finally, Ellie is in the drama club, so if Oliver will be helping with that at all - she would know him that way.

Oliver & Eloise I imagine he would definitely admire her hard working attitude, and would offer help with her college applications and so forth. Or, if she just needs a letter of recommendation he would offer that to her as well. :3 Eloise would definitely be a student that would no doubt see the lighter side of Mr. Dixon. -nodnod-

Ellie & Mr. Dixon
She could definitely use the help on college applications, and a letter of recommendation! And would definitely take him up on the offer - especially to help her with her essay for her applications. =]

isaiah&oliver
Sooo methinks Isaiah would be in his AP Literature class (and probably even his Creative Writing class). Those are classes he would very much enjoy, so I think Oliver would like having him as a student. Isaiah would like him, too. Literature is one of his favorite subjects, and he hates being in an environment where no one takes it seriously. So the fact that Oliver is a sort of no-nonsense teacher when it comes to his classes makes Isaiah happy.

Oliver is exactly the sort of teacher Ryan would love. Ryan like challenges and high standards and, as long as the teacher is fair about it, the more demanding an instructor the better!
I'd expect Ryan would be in Oliver's honors classes and definitely he would be in Creative Writing, as he does that sort of thing on his own sometimes during his spare time.
Oh, and Ryan is obviously ambitious so would be doing all he can to secure a nice letter of recommendation from the teacher that he can use for getting into the perfect college.

Connor & Oliver
I don't think they would have had much if any interaction with each other since Connor is neither an honors student nor a writer.

oliver and indy
Woah. I never realized how similar Phoenix and Indy are... weird. Anyway, so Indy isn't fond of authority, either, but she wouldn't particularly be rude to Oliver. She'd kind of try to just get though his class. On the upside, Indy is a major reader. (Calling all bookworms!) and she'd likely have a long conversation about motifs and themes and all that fun stuff, and she loves writing and being artsy and boom! I think she'll actually enjoy being around Oliver. Well, moreso than any other teacher. She and Silas aren't fond of one another, so I could see Oliver kind of liking Indy and Silas not and those two talking and being all "God, she sucks." and "Wut. Naw, man. She's chill." <-- not like that.
Still, she's a bit of a cynic (and by bit, I mean 100%). She loves writing and photography, and she really wants to be an op-ed writer, so persuasion is her thing. She's actually a good student, though Silas and Maryann probably won't think so. She just gets discouraged by subjects she hates, and she really loves lit, lang, and writing. She's got a huge imagination and would probably be in a couple of Oliver's classes.
However, she can be a bit snappy and her bluntness is often perceived as rude, even when she doesn't want it to be, so how Oliver reacts to that... eh.
I'm torn, because I want them to have a good relationship, but Indy isn't one to make friends.
I cannot express how much I love how calm Oliver is, because Indy's quiet, but when she talks, her words are pretty powerful. SO. Oliver's probably a more effective and kind version of Indy, in the sense that he's quiet, but when he talks, it's like effin' Buddha.
edit: I assume Indy would discreetly admire Oliver.
Indy doesn't have a good relationship with anybody except for Phoenix (currently), so I don't know how Oliver would react to that, since he likes Callie and Eloise (Indy certainly doesn't). Also, I just remembered, Indy doesn't really know how to react around guys who have authority (pleasant no dad situation) so she'd be more awkward than against it.
